What makes you think praying has to do with materializing your own outcome? What if certain people pray as a means of focusing on something in their lives in order to fix them? Certain folks focus differently. Prayer doesn’t always mean “I want diseases to go away therefore I will wish them away with prayers” To many people, this is a means of acquiring mental strength within themselves to get something done. Religion or not, there will be idiots who will undermine science. But promoting bullshit like this under the name of science is a ridicule to science itself. Science doesn’t need to resort to ridiculing in order to be interesting, why do people in the science community find it so appealing to take jabs at the religious community rather than focusing on being an example of what they want out of the world.
You want to show that science leads us to space? Show it. There are a lot of awesome things you could focus on to make science appealing, and religion is your pick? You essentially show to many other people who don’t love science the way you do that we need to look at other tools to promote this one [science]. Science is interesting within itself, if you need to make cheap shots at the obvious to sensationalize questionable aspects of science you’re adding a step back in the progress of communal scientific literacy. You say that science and religion do not go together. Which they do. Science is much a helpful tool as is prayer to people’s mentality. Be a little more understanding maybe? Yeah, that would definitely help science right now.
